The rally school is located between Swindon and Cirencester, approx. 20 minutes off Junction 15 of the M4 and approx. 25 minutes off Junction 11a of the M5. Click here for a location map.

The rally school will give the everyday driver the chance to turn their hand to hand brake turns, controlled power slides & other typical rally driving techniques, all in the controlled enviroment of our authentic rally venue. The school cars are new as well - authentic, competition prepared Peugeot 106 Rallyes. They have all the features of a class winning car so you’ll be able to throw them around and do maneuvers in them that you previously thought were impossible.

GwynneSPEED is one of the only rally schools in the country where the competition element of the day consists of timed laps rather than individual assesment. The clock never lies! The winner receives a trophy but at the end of the day, we’re all there to have a good time and learn something new whilst having great fun..!

All the GwynneSPEED instructors hold competition licences and therefore have stacks of experience to teach you how to control the car whilst going sideways on a marble-like surface.

Junior Rally Experience

This is a fabulous way to entertain bored kids at the weekends or school holidays. Perhaps you're 16 and itching to get behind the wheel. Either way, this course has been designed in such a way that it suits kids with absolutely no previous driving experience as well as those who have, perhaps, done karting or had some experience of driving cars.

The course starts with an assessment and then, depending on your level of experience, you will either be taught the basics of controlling our rally cars on the loose surface or your instructor will teach you the basics of rally driving such as handbrake turns & power slides! Half-Day Rally Experience

This course is absolutely jam-packed with adrenaline and fun! You will have the opportunity to learn handbrake turns, controlled power slides, understeer, oversteer from your instructor who has at least 2 years experience of competing on National rallies.

At the end of the driving course you will have the opportunity to put your skills to the test in the competitive element of the course when you go against the clock. Finally, your instructor will take you out for an awesome white knuckle passenger ride! £149 (inc. VAT).

Full-Day Rally Experience

This course is more intense than the half-day rally. The entire morning session consists of practice – you will learn more advanced skills such as predicting, inducing and utilising oversteer and understeer, anticipating and using weight transfer. You will learn the best way to tackle the hairpin, tight chicanes & the fast, flowing corners.

After lunch, the afternoon session consists entirely of competition. You will have several stage times which will be added up, which is exactly as would happen on a real rally. At the end of the course, your instructor will take you out for an awesome white knuckle passenger ride! £270 (inc. VAT).

Advanced 1-1 Tuition

This course is designed for people who have completed a half or full-day rally experience and want to take their rallying to the next level. Your instructor will be Andy Gwynne, company proprietor and 2003 National Super1600 Rally Champion. You will have a car exclusively to yourself and we will tailor-make the course to suit you. You can dictate which skills you want to focus more or less on. Typically, you will learn advanced skills such as how to make the car steer for itself using oversteer, the importance of correct lines, correct approaches and exits into and out of corners and how to conduct the handbrake turn in such a way that you can eliminate a lot of the movement on the steering wheel!

This course is also designed for drivers who have their own rally car and would like some help with set up and driving technique. £350 (+VAT). This price applies to 1-1 tuition conducted at Down Ampney airfield only. Purchase now!

Terms & Conditions

To participate on a Rally Experience Day, you must hold a full UK driving licence and weigh under 18 stone and not be taller than 6'4". You will be required to sign a disclaimer stating that: "I am fit and healthy and that my eyesight (with lenses if to be worn) is adequate for driving use. That I will not participate in a track event whilst under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating drugs. I declare that I am physically and mentally fit to take part in the event and I am competent to do so. I acknowledge that I understand the nature and type of the event and the potential risk inherent with motorsport and agree to accept that risk. That I hold a current full licence entitling me to drive on the public roads in the UK."

Spectators are welcome, free of charge, at GwynneSPEED and we offer a full-speed, adrenaline packed "White Knuckle Rides" with one of the instructors at the end of the day. No children under 8 are permitted on site.
